Blackbird Is A Great Little Ship
Ok, its not very good as a solo ship due to the poor DPS but in a small gang or even flying with one other player it is pretty awesome.
Its cheap to fly, Ive picked the Blackbird up for as little as 2.5 million Isk but you can spend a lot on fitting if you wanted to or you could just spend a modest amount and still have a very good ship.
It is very easy to skill for and new players can find themeselves turning many a fight around for their gang.
Multispecs Arent Worth It
The mistake I made when first using the Blackbird was to fit all multispec ECM Jammers which reduces range and strength as well as eating your cap up pretty quickly. You need to fit racial jammers to get the best out of the Blackbird even if this means carrying them in your hold so you can make a quick change.
Heres my current fit and it isnt a cheap (40 million) one but still around 90 Million or so cheaper than a Falcon would cost and very nearly as effective.
High slots - 3 TII Heavy Missile Launchers, 1 Prototype Cloaking Device.
Medium slots - 2 Best Named Racial Jammers for Gallente, 2 Best Named Racial Jammers for Minmatar, 1 Multispec and 1 TII Cap Booster. You could drop the Cap Booster and fit 2 Multispecs or 2 Racials.
Carry the other Jammers in hold for quick changes, I like to have 3 of each type with me at all times for all races.
Low slots - 2 Hypnosis Signal Distortion Amplifiers.
Rigs - 2 Anti-Em Screen Reinforcers, 1 Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer.
If I know what Im going after I will fit 3 Racials and 2 of whatever I think will be more usefull depending on hostiles in the vicinity.
With this setup the Blackbird can jam Command ships more or less permanently if that is the only one I need to Jam up and still get on the Killmail with my 3 launchers, pitifull as they are.
I like to sit cloaked in my home systems while im semi afk doing other stuff and if we get hostiles around then I can uncloak my Blackbird and warp straight into a fight and help the rest of my corp mates, its a pretty a good feeling knowing you managed to turn a fight around with your puny tanked cruiser against some pretty hefty DPS.
