Eve Online character creation
When you enter the game for the first time you will be prompted to choose from one of four races at the character creation screen.
Caldari
Caldari are considered to be the best PVE,ers in the game and also pretty quick to skill up compared to other races.
Amarr
Amarr are considered to be very good PVP,ers. and the new kiddies on the block.
Minmatar
Minmatar are considered to be very good PVP,ers, needs good skills to get the best so can be frustrating at first.
Gallante
Gallante are considered to be very good for PVP although some changes have meant the other races catching up with them.
It is important to take each races strong points into consideration when choosing your character and how you think you would like to see your eve career progress but in truth each race has some very strong ships and learning to use them effectively is the key.
Three characters on one account
With each account anyone purchases you are allowed upto three characters (per account), although only one character can be trained at any one time.
Once you have chosen your race you then go on to choose a bloodline, the bloodline gives you a more direct way of choosing your career path, some bloodlines are more suited to fighting while others more suited to being scientests or traders.
All this means you are allocated skill points in different areas but as long as you have a rough idea to the direction you want to take I wouldnt worry too much about this as all skills can be trained equally, it just means you might have to train a little more in one area if you are a fighter and would like to be a miner as well. Its not too dificult to understand once you get in the swing of it.
Important Update
With the Apochrypha update, CCP has changed the way new characters start.
It is no longer nearly as important in choosing your Race and blodlines as it was, just choose a race you think you would like to fly and go !
You are no longer allocated 800,000 skill points in different skills for your chosen race, in other words you really do get a blank canvas to work from without any confusion.
