Mining Your Way To Free Game Time-Part 1

When you first start out with your character creation you will be given 2 points in your chosen races "frigate class" and you will also be give 1 or 2 points which allows your character to to operate a mining laser. You are given a two week trial period on your new eve online account before you have to pay for the game and any subscriptions. We will use this account to build enough Isk to pay for skill books and mining ships plus the best mining lasers you can buy. This account will NOT be your main account, we are only using this to pay for the expensive ships and fittings for your main account that you will create in 2 weeks time.

Newbie Ship

You will start with a "newbie" ship in one of the starter systems which comes fit with a civillian mining laser and a gun turret so get out there and start mining right now. A dedicated mining frigate will cost you around 30,000 to 35,000 Isk, you start the game with 5000 isk so you will need warp to the asteroid belts in the system and start mining to pay for the new ship and fittings. It shouldnt take too long to be able to afford the new ship and modules.

Undocking

When you undock from the station and enter space just right click your mouse in empty space and a small window will pop up, you will see "asteroid belts" in the window, hover over this and a new window will appear, you should now see a "warp too" tab, just click on this and you will warp to the asteroid belt of your choosing.

Asteroid Belts

Once you arrive at the asteroid belt you will need to go to your "overview settings" which you can see to the right of your screen. At the top of the overview, right click on the small white triangle to bring up your settings, now hover over "load default" then click on "mining", all the asteroids should now magically appear on your overview. Just click on a asteroid in your overview and travel to within 10km of the asteroid, now target the asteroid and activate your mining laser by clicking on the module at the bottom of your screen.
