Change your Ships name

You Know It Makes Sense

When you first climb into your shiny new ship and enter the cold and unforgiving universe, the very first thing you should be doing is to change your ships name.

Why ?

Simply because if you dont you will be making it very easy for hostiles to find you, they will know what you are flying, where you are in any solar system, all they have to do is scan you down and pinpoint your ship and whereabouts very quickly.

Easy Prey

So your name is "Han Solo" and a pirate is looking for an easy kill in low sec space, he opens his scanner and scans out a cruiser in an asteroid belt, he also sees the pilots name on his scanner, Han Solo, so he looks at local chat window and right clicks Han Solo,s name, he sees the pilot is only 1 month old, has no corp mates in the system and figures this will be an easy kill, warps in and kills Han Solo even though the pirate was only in a frigate, see how easy Mr Solo made it for the pirate.

Lets Make It Tough

What happens if Han Solo had changed the the name on his ship, well we will asume the pirate still scans a cruiser down in a belt and trys his luck although now the pirate has no idea who is piloting the cruiser and therefore does not know how experienced the pilot is or whether the pilot has corp mates in the system. So he flys into the belt and attacks the cruiser who is fairly experienced, a good fight ensues and its atually quite a close fight untill .... the cruiser pilots corp mates warp in and rapidly kill the frigate.

By changing the name of your ship you will make it much harder for the pirate to attack you.

Right click on your ship and change the name.
