Quick Tips

Ive put together some common questions New players might commonly ask when they start the game.

Q. What is the best cruiser for mining for my chosen race ?
A. Open up the information for all the cruisers and read what bonuses each ship recieves, the bonuses will tell you what a ships strong points are and so how you should be fitting the ship, this goes for any ship you fly.

Q. Can I fly a Minmatar Frigate when I am a Amarr pilot ?

A. Yes you can although you will need to buy the Amarr frigate skill book and train it before you can fly one.

Q. Should I be armour tanking or shield tanking my ship ?

A. A good rule of thumb to follow is to look how many low slots and how many mid slots your ship has, if you have more mids then sheild tanking is usually the way to go and if you have more lows then armour tanking is usually right for you. Also check attributes for your ship and bonuses, these can tell you which you should favour tanking.

Q. Can I be killed in High sec space ?

A. Yes, you can be killed anywhere in Eve although to be killed in high sec usually means you have consented to fight, sometimes unknowingly.

Q. Is it easy to be killed in High sec space ?

A. No, it is very difficult to be killed in high sec if you know what the rules are and it is possible to go through this game for years without ever being killed if that is what you wanted.

Q. How do I get more powergrid ?

A. Check all your skills, some will give more powergrid, some will give bonuses to certain modules powergrid usage when trained and there are Low slot modules you can fit for extra powergid - Reactor control relays, Power diagnostic systems and there are Ship rigs which will give you more powergrid too.

Q. What are rig slots used for ?

A. They are used to fit rigs which are permanent fittings and cannot be removed unless you destroy them. Rigs are expensive and run into millions of Isk, even for a cheap one. Rigs will give extra bonuses to certain aspects of your ship depending on the rigs you choose to fit.

Q. How do I set a destination ?

A. Open up people and places and type in your destination, click search then right click the destination and set.

Q. How do I auto pilot to a destination ?

A. Right click on your ship and click auto pilot.

Q. Can I avoid all low security systems when I set a destination ?

A. Yes, Open up your map and select "avoid systems under 0.5", your ship will now only travel through high security systems.

Q. How do I join a Corp ?

A. Offices are situated in stations, you can apply to corps at the stations.

Q. Do I need to be an experienced pilot to live in Low sec ?

A. Not at all, If anything I would encourage it if you can find a Corp that lives there, your learning will speed up much faster and it also opens up much more to the gaming experience.

Q. How do I find agents to run missions for, I have been running for one level 1 agent and need a level 2 ?

A. Open your character sheet, click on "standings" then click on "liked by" and click on the blue circle for the corporation you have been running missions for. now you can click on the "agents" tab for that corporation. Just look through all the agents for a level 2.

Q. The agent says I dont have enough standings to run missions for him.

A. click on the blue circle to get that agents Information sheet up, you should now see what the requirements are for that agent.

More to follow later !
