To PVP Or Not To PVP - Location

That choice is entirely yours, if you are new to online gaming "PVP" simply means "Player versus Player."Whilst other MMORGs have set boundarys where players can go to pvp, Eve online takes a different view and one that makes the game all the better for it, expect to see other games following a similar path in the future.

The Eve Universe can be split into 3 big zones, High Sec, Low Sec and Null Sec, there are literally thousands of solar systems in each zone however they all operate on one giant server and travelling to each system or zone is as simple as jumping through a jump gate!

HIGH SEC PVP

High Sec consists of systems rated from 1.0 down to 0.5 and is policed by Concorde, here players need to mutually consent to PVP otherwise Concorde will warp in on top of pirates and obliterate them if they should fire on anyone not agreeing to fight, you have been warned. There are exceptions to this if someone is thief or your corp is at war but We will talk about that in another post.

LOW SEC PVP

Low Sec consists of systems rated from 0.4 down to 0.1 and considered by many to be the most hostile space in Eve online, you will find many pirates operating here as Concorde wont save you from a pirate ganking although opening fire on someone near a jump gate or station will see the gun turrets guarding this infrastructure shooting you down, a well tanked ship is needed to open fire on someone near these installations. Note, if you are fired on you are allowed to fire back without the guns firing upon you.

NULL SEC PVP

Null Sec consists of 0.0 systems, here anything goes, there are no gate guns or station guns to help you and no Concorde to protect you. Null sec generally consists of big player alliances all fighting for controlling lucrative areas of space, big fleet battles are the order of your pvp day here!
